NSW couple on the run after armed robbery

A couple are on the run after allegedly holding up a supermarket and ramming a car, which had a young girl in it, into a police car in a tiny Riverina town.

Arrest warrants have been issued for Daniel Trask, 30, and Natasha Umpelvy, 28, over a crime spree in the small town of Balranald on the NSW and Victorian border last week.

The pair allegedly stole petrol from a service station on the Sturt Highway on Thursday night before committing an armed robbery at a supermarket.

They allegedly threatened supermarket staff with a large knife and stole cash before fleeing in the car with a young female passenger.

During a highway police chase, the couple stopped and reversed into the police car, causing extensive damage.

Police say they then dumped their car and were picked up by a woman in a ute at the Buronga service station.

It's believed they might be crossing the border into Victoria.
