NSW cop charged with assaulting Qld cop

An off-duty NSW police officer has been charged with assaulting a Queensland police officer at the Gold Coast 600.

Queensland Police allege the 58-year-old detective assaulted an officer after he was approached by police about 11pm on Saturday at a concert at the motor sports event.

The policeman, who is attached to the North West Metropolitan Region, was arrested and taken to a Gold Coast police station, where he was charged with serious assault of a police officer and obstructing police.

He was granted bail at Southport Magistrates Court in Queensland on Monday and has been ordered to face court on November 17.
