A low pressure system is expected to cause rain and showers in the area today and tomorrow.

The Bureau warned flash flooding may affect the Northern Rivers and northern parts of the Mid North Coast as a result of the downpour.

Affected areas include Lismore, Grafton, Coffs Harbour, Sawtell and Dorrigo.

The SES advises people not to drive, ride or walk through flood waters and to keep clear of waterways.
