Newcastle unit block damaged in blaze

A man has been arrested after a fire caused extensive damage to a unit block in Newcastle.

Several units were evacuated before firefighters extinguished the blaze at Hamilton around 7.30pm on Saturday. Police say no one was injured.

A 41-year-old man was later arrested before being transferred to hospital for unrelated injuries. He was being interviewed by police.
