NAB fraud suspect faces trial over $26.7m

A Sydney woman will face trial over an alleged $40 million fraud scheme to rip off the National Australia Bank.

Helen Mary Rosamond was on Thursday committed to stand trial in the District Court in April on 74 fraud and dishonesty charges with an alleged total value of $26.7 million.

Rosamond, the chief executive of events and human resources company the Human Group, is alleged to have issued a series of false invoices and given bribes to an NAB worker.

She was charged alongside Rosemary Rogers, the former chief-of-staff to ex-NAB chief executive Andrew Thorburn, over the alleged fraud scheme which totalled $40 million.

From 2013 to 2017, Rosamond is alleged to have given Rogers a series of extravagant bribes including flights, accommodation, holidays and a $172,000 BMW in exchange for being issued with bloated invoices.

The 44-year-old was arrested in March last year after a more than year-long investigation by Strike Force Napthali.

Rogers in February pleaded guilty to dishonestly obtaining advantage by deception and is awaiting sentencing.
