A murderer who tried to rape a woman while on parole has pleaded guilty.
Terrence Leary, 48, had served 22 years in jail and was on parole for the 1990 murder of a 17-year-old girl when he attempted to rape a woman at a Sydney bus stop in June 2013.
He pleaded guilty to several charges, including inflicting bodily harm with intent to have sexual intercourse with the victim, at the Sydney District Court on Monday afternoon.
Leary was denied parole six times after his 15-year non-parole period ended in 2005, but was released in August 2012 having served most of his maximum 24-year sentence.
Leary, who's in custody, will return to the same court for sentencing on October 2.
