Mum robbed at gunpoint at Sydney home

A mother has been robbed at gunpoint by thieves wearing balaclavas in the hallway of her western Sydney home, while her children slept and her husband was at work.

Two thieves broke into the Dean Park home in Blacktown through a window just before midnight on Tuesday, police say.

When the woman heard strange noises coming from her garage she grabbed a kitchen knife and went to investigate.

She ran into the balaclava-wearing robbers in her hallway, the Nine Network reports.

One held a gun to her head.

She dropped the knife and was robbed of $300 and a mobile phone.

"The woman and her children were uninjured during the incident," police said.

Her husband, Kevin Mahe, told the Nine Network the robbery was "just unbelievable".

"They haven't had regard for anyone else. They're out there just ruining people," he said.

"People don't go through life expecting to be robbed at gunpoint. This is not America."

Local police and the dog squad have been searching for the men.

A crime scene has been established and police have asked for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
