Stephanie Scott's mother has asked for people to commemorate what would have been the murdered NSW woman's 27th birthday by having a cup of tea at 3pm on Wednesday.

In a Facebook post, the high school teacher's sister Kim has passed on a request from her mother to remember Ms Scott's birthday by having a cup of tea and posting photos, using the hashtag #Teaforsteph.

"To the girl who defines the word 'fun-loving', happy birthday. I'm so proud to call you my little sister. And although you may not be here, I'm sure you'll be sprinkling a few hundreds and thousands in heaven today. xxx," Kim Scott posted.

Scott was an English and drama teacher in the NSW Riverina town of Leeton when murdered in April, less than a week before she was due to marry.

Her accused murderer Vincent Stanford remains behind bars.

The 24-year-old is accused of sexually assaulting and murdering the bride-to-be on April 5.
