Mum charged over NSW freight train crash

A woman has been charged with crashing her car into a freight train in NSW, leaving two of her young daughters fighting for life and another injured.

The 30-year-old's Holden Commodore was slammed by a freight train north of Taree, on the NSW mid north coast, on April 21, leaving her two and seven-year-old daughters with critical head injuries.

The woman and her five-year-old daughter, who was seated behind the driver's seat, escaped with relatively minor injuries.

The most seriously injured girls are receiving ongoing medical treatment.

The woman has been granted bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court on August 4 charged with dangerous and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.
