Motorcyclist smashes into tree in Sydney

A motorbike rider has been taken to hospital after crashing into the back of a ute and slamming into a tree in Sydney's south.

The 47-year-old was riding along Sir Bertram Stevens Drive in the Royal National Park on Sunday morning when he collided into the back of a black ute travelling in the same direction.

The force of the prang pushed him into the wrong lane and then off the road altogether, before he smashed into a tree.

The man was treated at the scene and airlifted to St George Hospital in a stable condition.

The ute's driver, a 47-year-old man, was not injured in the crash.
