Motorcyclist killed in Newcastle crash

A 60-year-old man has died after his motorbike and a car crashed in Newcastle.

The accident happened just after 3.30pm Friday on Cormorant Road at Kooragang.

The motorcyclist, from Mayfield East, was treated at the scene but later died at the John Hunter Hospital.

Police say the 38-year-old driver of the other vehicle, a Volkswagon Golf, was taken to hospital for mandatory tests.

A crime scene has been established and inquiries are continuing.
