Mother allegedly stabs daughter in Sydney

A 76-year-old woman has been arrested after her daughter was stabbed during a domestic argument in Sydney's south.

Police say that at about 9.15pm last night the 76-year-old and her 39-year-old daughter began arguing at a home in Orana Avenue, Kirrawee.

It's alleged that the older woman stabbed her daughter in the stomach with a knife.

The injured woman was taken to St George Hospital where she underwent surgery. She is now in a stable condition.

The 76-year-old was arrested and taken to Sutherland Police Station where she was assisting police with their inquiries.
