More delays in NSW dance studio rape case

A man accused of raping a young girl held captive in a Sydney dance studio remains in negotiations with prosecutors, a court has heard.

Anthony Peter Sampieri, 55, is accused of raping, choking and filming a seven-year-old girl in a Kogarah dance studio bathroom in November 2018.

Sampieri then allegedly stabbed one of two people who burst into the bathroom and rescued the girl.

He didn't appear at Central Local Court on Thursday when his lawyer asked for another five weeks to settle the facts in some matters.

But magistrate Robert Williams said he was concerned the case was taking too long and ordered the parties return on June 13 for committal.

"I can't see any benefit ... for this matter to be further delayed," he said.

"It's been before the court since November."

Sampieri faces 15 charges over the alleged bathroom assault including three counts of child rape, wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and using a child to make child abuse material.

He's expected to appear via video link on the next occasion.

Sampieri also faces 29 charges of making threatening phone calls in the weeks before the alleged attack.

A police officer is separately expected to face Downing Centre Local Court in early June accused of mishandling a complaint about Sampieri before the Kogarah incident.
