Five more charges have been laid against a Penrith man who allegedly left a baby under a scalding hot shower.

The 23-year-old man was charged in November after he allegedly placed the baby boy in a shower while he smoked a cigarette and charged his phone.

The boy was placed in an induced coma and remains in Westmead's Children Hospital.

He has remained behind bars since his arrest on November 23 and is due to appear in Penrith Local Court on February 26.
