Mike Baird applauds spelling bee students

NSW Premier Mike Baird has wished students good luck ahead of the state's Spelling Bee where 86 finalists will battle for victory.

The finalists have already finished ahead of a record 134,000 students from more than 900 public schools who took on the spelling bee challenge this year.

"This prestigious competition is a great honour and these young spellers have already proven themselves as the best in their region," Mr Baird said in a statement.

The Premier's Spelling Bee State Final will be held at the ABC Centre in Sydney on Wednesday.
