Memorial defacer will be caught: NSW cops

Further footage has been released by police in Sydney in an effort to catch the person who defaced a memorial in The Domain.

The Wall of Remembrance, honouring NSW police who died on the job, was defaced on Friday by a man who scratched it with glass or a rock.

NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione made a personal plea on Saturday seeking justice over the vandalism.

"There is no more important or sacred place in the country to the NSW Police Force, than this memorial," he said.

"I am appalled and saddened that the names of our state's heroes have been desecrated," Mr Scipione said.

Sydney City Local Area Commander, Superintendent David Donohue, said the clean-up on Monday has uncovered more damage caused to the Wall than originally thought.

"A total of 28 panels were removed today," Supt Donohue said.

Police have reviewed and issued further CCTV footage of a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.
