Medich murder trial jury considers verdict

A jury will resume its deliberations on Monday in the trial of Sydney millionaire property developer Ron Medich who is accused of murdering a former business partner.

The NSW Supreme Court jurors retired on Friday before 1pm and were sent home three hours later.

During that time, they sent in three notes, one of which asked the judge for various documents including the transcript of the trial that began on January 30.

Medich, 68, has pleaded not guilty to murdering Michael McGurk, 45, who was gunned down outside his Sydney home in September 2009.

The businessman also denies intimidating his widow in August 2010.

Medich's former close friend, Lucky Gattellari, told the jury Medich directed him to organise the hit and financed it.

But the defence attacked the credibility of Gattellari, who received a hefty discount on his sentence for his involvement in the murder because he helped authorities.
