A factory building is in danger of collapsing after it was ravaged by fire in Sydney’s south.

The blaze broke out in the meat processing plant on Green Street, in Banksmeadow, before midday, after a fire from an air-conditioning unit spread into insulation panelling, NSW Fire & Rescue said.

Cherry pickers were used to douse the flames, and no injuries have been reported.

About 50 people were evacuated from the building after the fire broke out.

The fire is still inaccessible in some areas, and the building is now threatening to collapse, NSW Fire & Rescue said.
