Man stabbed in leg in Sydney's south

A man has been stabbed in the leg in Sydney's south by another man who asked him for cigarettes.

Police say that at about 10pm on Friday a 24-year-old man left Allawah railway station and began walking down Illawarra Street when he was approached by another man.

The man allegedly asked the 24-year-old for cigarettes before allegedly pushing him and stabbing him in the upper thigh.

The injured man fled to his home on Noble Street where he contacted family who took him to St George Hospital for treatment. His injuries are not considered life threatening.

Police are seeking the offender.
