Man spayed with bullets in Sydney's west

A 21-year-old man has been shot several times in his leg while he chatted with his girlfriend in a western Sydney street.

But the victim of the Merrylands drive-by shooting, named in media as Mohammed Shamery, is refusing to co-operate with detectives.

Police say Shamery was sprayed with bullets in Rogers Street at 8.30pm on Wednesday, by a man who then got into an Audi 5 with two others and sped off.

Paramedics treated him at the scene before he was transferred to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.

The Audi, believed to be stolen, was found burnt out in the nearby suburb of Chester Hill a few hours later.
