Body found in Sydney river identified

A body found floating in a river in Sydney's west has been identified as that of a 27-year-old man from Auburn.

The body was spotted by a fisherman on the Duck River in Clyde on Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the man, who was described as having several tattoos including a tribal design on his left arm, was identified after a man believed to be his friend recognised the description and contacted them.

Investigators are yet to determine how the 27-year-old died, and a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted next week.

Anyone with information is being urged to come forward, with officers reminding the public that their tip-offs will remain anonymous.
