Man escapes from NSW prison van

A man has escaped from a prison van in NSW's central west.

Minimum-security prisoner John Robert Bamblett was last seen in his prison greens running into bushland near the Newell Highway, six kilometres north of West Wyalong, on Thursday afternoon, police say.

The 35-year-old is described as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander appearance, with tattoos on both arms. He is usually held in Ivanhoe Correctional Centre.
