Man dies instantly in car crash

A man has died instantly after he was thrown from his car when it crashed into an embankment in the NSW Northern Tablelands.

The man, who has yet to be identified, was thrown when his car failed to negotiate a bend on the Oxley Highway at Walcha and rolled down an embankment on Thursday.

Police say the sole occupant of the the car appears to have died instantly.

The car will undergo forensic mechanical examination and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
