Man dies in head-on crash in NSW

A man has been killed in a head-on collision between a van and a truck on the NSW mid north coast.

Emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway at Cooperabung, north of Port Macquarie, just after 1pm on Monday.

The van driver died at the scene.

Police said initial inquiries indicate the collision occurred when the van, travelling southbound, crossed into the northbound lane.

The truck driver was unharmed.

He was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.
