Man dies after being found in NSW gutter

A 53-year-old man has died after he was found collapsed in a Sydney gutter in a distressed state.

Paramedics were taking the man from a car park gutter in Merrylands, in western Sydney, to Westmead Hospital on Sunday morning but he died before they arrived.

Police say the circumstances of the man's death are "uncertain" and have started an investigation.
