Man critical after NSW alleged break-in
A NSW man is in a critical condition after he was allegedly detained by two men while trying to break into a home in Newcastle.
Police received reports of three men fighting at the home at around 3.30am on Saturday.
A 34-year-old man was found being detained by two other men.
He was unresponsive and taken to hospital in a critical condition.
One of the men detaining him, a 33-year-old, was taken to hospital with facial injuries and was later charged with recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm.
"Investigations suggest the 34-year-old man had committed a break, enter and steal offence at the 33-year-old man's home prior to the altercation," a NSW Police spokesperson said.
A 32-year-old who was assisting in detaining the older man has not been charged.
