Man charged with partial blinding

A man has been charged with partially blinding his neighbour by throwing liquid chlorine at him as he was trampolining in the backyard of his eastern Sydney home.

Police say a 45-year-old man was on the trampoline with his child at North Bondi at about 2.45pm on Sunday.

It's alleged that after the child returned inside the 31-year-old neighbour poured the liquid chlorine over his fence, splashing the man in the face and damaging the trampoline.

Police allege it was a deliberate act.

The 45-year-old man was taken to Sydney Eye Hospital by paramedics to be told he has permanent damage to his eyesight.

Police arrested the 31-year-old man at his home and charged him with causing grievous bodily harm by the use of corrosive fluid, and malicious damage.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Waverley Local Court on March 30.
