Man charged with murder in Taree stabbing
A man has been charged with the domestic-related murder of a woman in Taree on the NSW mid-north coast.
Police were called to a house on Stevenson street at 7pm on Sunday following reports two women had been stabbed.
They found a 39-year-old woman with a stab wound to her abdomen.
After forcing their way into the home, they found the 49-year-old woman dead.
They arrested a 53-year-old man at the scene and later charged him with murder, wounding with intent and breaching an apprehended domestic violence order.
He was refused bail to appear in Taree Local Court on Monday.
The wounded woman was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Manning Base Hospital where she received sutures and was later released.
