Man charged with assaulting boy in NSW

A man has been charged with assaulting an eight-year-old boy with a metal dog leash after the boy ran into his dog on his bike in a Wollongong park.

The child suffered an injury to his back and received medical treatment after the incident in West Wollongong on May 15.

The man fled the scene but following inquiries a 55-year-old man was arrested on Friday and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm to appear at Wollongong Local Court on July 18.
