Man charged over southwest Sydney shooting

Police have charged a 34-year-old man over a shooting in Sydney's southwest that left another man with gunshot wounds to his back and arm.

Officers arrested the alleged shooter about 10.30am Saturday at Bankstown Police Station.

Police allege the man shot his 38-year-old victim outside a home on Wangee Road in Greenacre on the evening of December 27.

The older man was treated at Bankstown Hospital after the incident and was later charged by police for allegedly providing a false version of events.

The 34-year-old has been charged with shooting with intent to murder and two counts of firing a firearm in or near a public place.

He made a brief appearance in Parramatta Local Court on Saturday where he was refused bail.

He will next front Burwood Local Court on January 21.
