Man charged over NSW beach sexual assault

A man has been charged over the sexual assault of a woman at a beach on NSW's north coast.
The 31-year-old approached the woman at a beach in Byron Bay in May and allegedly sexually assaulted her, before she escaped and ran to a nearby hotel.
The victim, also 31, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police arrested the man at his Coffs Harbour home on Friday, charging him with six counts of sexual assault, depriving liberty, three counts of committing an act of indecency and one count of reckless damage.
The man was refused bail to appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court on Saturday.
