Man charged over fake music fest tickets

A 19-year-old Sydney man has been charged with allegedly cheating people out of money for fake music festival tickets.

In April a number of people reported to police that they had paid online for what they believed were music festival tickets but they never received them. Between May and November, another 11 people lodged similar fraud reports.

Following investigations, police arrested the man on Friday at a Wollongong unit. He was charged with 18 counts of dishonestly obtaining funds by deception and possessing prohibited drugs.

The man was refused bail to appear in Wollongong Local Court on Saturday.
