Man charged over child sex offences in NSW

A man has been charged over a series of child sex offences against girls as young as two in NSW's northwest.

The 62-year-old man turned himself in to Port Macquarie Police station on Wednesday morning, following investigations into allegations several girls were sexually assaulted in the Quirindi area between 1986 and 1992.

At the time of the alleged offences, the girls were between two and six years old, police say.

The man was charged with several counts of sexual and indecent assault against children under 16.

He was refused bail and will appear before Port Macquarie Local Court on May 21.
