Sydney woman dies after being struck by car on Friday night

A 21-year-old woman has died in hospital after she and two other pedestrians were struck by a car at Strathfield, in Sydney’s inner west, on Friday night.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of raw Square and Churchill Avenue about 9pm after reports of a crash.

Police allege 21-year-old Padstow woman Louisa Huang, a 20-year-old Strathfield man and a 25-year-old Pendle Hill man were crossing the road at a green pedestrian light when they were struck by a car.

All three were treated by paramedics before being rushed to hospital.

The woman was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition but died about 1pm today.

Her two friends remain in Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.

The 37-year-old driver was charged with two counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and other driving offences.

Police today also charged him with dangerous driving occasioning death.

He has been granted conditional bail and will face Penrith Local Court on February 25.
