Man bashed in 'targeted attack' in a granny flat on a property in Sydney's west

A man has been severely beaten during what police believe is a targeted attack in Sydney's west last night.

Emergency services were called to a property on Newman Street in Bass Hill just before midnight after reports a man had been assaulted.

Police found a 37-year-old man in a granny flat at the back of the property suffering serious injuries to his face and legs.

It is understood he was assaulted with an unknown object.

The victim has been taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition. Police have set up a crime scene at the property.

Police said they believe the attack may have been targeted and detectives are continuing their investigation.
