Man and girls charged over Sydney fire

A man and two teenage girls have been arrested and charged over a fire that destroyed a community centre in Sydney's west.

Police say that at about 2.15am on Thursday emergency services were called to the community centre at Woodcroft and found the building well alight.

At about 4.25am a 19-year-old man and two 17-year-old girls were arrested nearby and taken to Blacktown Police Station.

The man has been charged with three counts of damaging a property by fire, cause or set fire to the property of another and break and enter house and destroy property.

The Doonside man was refused bail to appear in Blacktown Local Court on Friday.

The girls, from Parklea and Katoomba, have been charged with break, enter and destroy property.

They were released on conditional bail to appear in a children's court on February 12.
