4WD crash leaves one dead, another injured

One man has died while another has suffered serious injuries after they were thrown from a 4WD during a crash near the rural NSW town of Parkes.

Police say the pair were flung from the vehicle when it rolled several times after leaving a roadway in Bogan Gate on Thursday night.

The 29-year-old driver died at the scene while his male passenger was taken to Westmead Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Earlier on Thursday, a 23-year-old man was killed after his car crashed into a tree north of Tamworth.
