Man charged over rural NSW stabbing

A man has been charged following the stabbing death of another man in the NSW Central West region.

Emergency services were called to a house in Orange in the early hours of Saturday after reports of a fight between two men who were known to each other.

On arrival, a 20-year-old man was found unresponsive with a stab wound to his chest.

Police performed CPR on the man. However, when paramedics arrived, he was declared deceased at the scene.

A 26-year-old man fled the scene in a Holden Commodore before officers arrived. The empty vehicle was later found four kilometres away.

Officers from Central West Police District, with assistance from the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad, launched an investigation.

Following inquiries, a 26-year-old man was arrested after attending Orange Police station about 3pm on Saturday.

He was charged with murder and refused bail to appear in Orange Bail Court on Sunday.
