'The best police force in the world': Mal Lanyon returns to police academy to speak with new cops
NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon has visited the Goulburn police academy to address more than 300 new probationary constables before they're sworn in.
"We are the best police force in the world, best police force in the world because of you," Lanyon said.
"We are the best place in the force, but we can't rest on our laurels, we have to continue to get better."

The recruits practised today before marching out and graduating from the Goulburn academy tomorrow.
Lanyon said that the safety of the recruits "is always a greatest concern".
The commissioner's five-year tenure began in a hail of bullets and gangland murders.
Lanyon's most recent response saw 12 arrests across Sydney, targeting the Hells Angels bikie gang.

"We want to be very positive, if people want to commit crimes, we will investigate and put them before the courts," he said.
He also acknowledged yesterday's alleged domestic violence incident that saw a pregnant woman run over and nearly killed, describing it as "abhorrent".
Tomorrow, 341 probationary constables are set to be sworn in.
It is the biggest class in 13 years, however, there are still 2000 vacancies that need to be filled.
The new officers will spread to all corners of the state, pledging to serve and protect the community.
