Legal action over NSW amalgamations

Mosman Council, in north Sydney, has joined the growing list of local government bodies taking legal action against amalgamations planned by the NSW government.

Action opposing two separate merger proposals affecting Mosman Council will be heard in the Land and Environment Court.

"We have not taken the decision to proceed with this action lightly, but we are fighting for our survival against a government that has overseen a deeply flawed process," Mosman Mayor Peter Abelson said in a statement on Monday.
