Laser pointed at plane in Newcastle

A laser has been pointed at an aircraft as it approached Newcastle Airport.

The flight, which originated on the Gold Coast, was approaching the airport about 6.20pm on Sunday when it was hit by the beam, police say.

The plane landed safely, but police have called for anyone who noticed suspicious activity in the area to contact authorities.
