Indecent doctor due for sentence in 2015

A Sydney dermatologist facing a lengthy prison term for indecently assaulting five patients used his position to manipulate his victims, a court has heard.

David Wee Tong pleaded guilty in August to seven counts of aggravated acts of indecency and one count of aggravated indecent assault against five of his patients between February 1999 and January 2001.

The Downing Centre District Court on Thursday was read a statement written by one of his victims, who visited the skin doctor for a 15-minute consultation about a spot on her upper thigh.

"What happened next has haunted me for a decade," she said.

"He went about his role as a doctor to manipulate me emotionally and manoeuvred me into positions to take photographs and then to actually assault me.

"It's amazing how a 15-minute consultation for a spot on my upper thigh could affect the rest of my life."

Tong, who suffers from glaucoma, sat quietly in court as crown prosecutor Sarah Harris said he faced a maximum of 10 years in jail - three years for indecency charges and a maximum of seven years for the aggravated indecent assault charge.

The matter will return to court on February 6 for sentencing.
