Hutton's ex hospitalised as case continues

The former partner of media personality Deborah Hutton has been admitted to hospital while court proceedings continue against him for allegedly staging an invasion at her home in Sydney's east.

Robert Venour Dulhunty, 49, is facing six charges including intimidation, making a false call to triple zero and damaging Ms Hutton's $3.8 million Bronte property between 6am and 6.45am on August 11.

He was arrested nine days later.

According to court documents, police allege Dulhunty staged the attempted aggravated break and enter with the intention of making Ms Hutton, the former editor of the Australian Women's Weekly, fear physical or mental harm.

Dulhunty allegedly damaged two window flyscreens and a wall of the two-storey house during the ruse.

His lawyer, Bryan Wrench, appeared in Waverley Local Court on Thursday where Dulhunty's bail was varied by consent to allow him to receive treatment in a private hospital.

He must notify the officer in charge of the investigation immediately upon his discharge, when his suspended bail conditions of living at a set Sydney residence and reporting to police three times a week will reapply.

Dulhunty is forbidden from entering Bronte or Waverley, unless for the purposes of attending court, and must not go near or contact Ms Hutton or any other prosecution witness.

An application for an apprehended violence order has also been made on Ms Hutton's behalf against her former partner of six-and-a-half years.

Dulhunty's case is listed before the same court on November 9 where he is expected to apply for it to be dealt with under section 32 of the Mental Health Act.
