Hunt for gunman continues in Sydney

A gunman wearing a balaclava when he shot a man in the leg in Sydney's southwest has evaded police.

An air and ground search failed to find the attacker after being launched when paramedica treated the wounded man at a factory in Smeaton Grange.

The 34-year-old victim, who had been shot in the thigh, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say he was with another man when they were confronted by the armed man wearing a balaclava.

Motorists who saw anything unusual about 4.15pm on Thursday on the Camden bypass near Narellen Road have been urged to call police.
