'Hippie' approaches two NSW children

NSW Police are calling for witnesses after a bearded man wearing a rainbow shirt, tights and beads approached children at Byron Bay and Lennox Head.

A nine-year-old girl was approached by the man on Tuesday morning at a festival in Lennox Head before he was asked to leave by organisers, while a 10-year-old girl was approached by the man later that day at a Byron Bay beach, but she left with her parents and the man walked away, police said in a statement on Friday.

The suspect is described as having a grey beard, wearing wooden beads, a rainbow-coloured shirt, tights and a black beanie and was seen driving a Volkswagen van, investigators say.
