School leavers will have access to free pre-traineeship and pre-apprenticeship courses following a $10 million commitment from the NSW government.

Minister for Skills John Barilaro, who also announced a $1000 traineeship fee cap from next year, says the initiative is designed to help address skills shortages, particularly in regional NSW.

"This change means more people can access high quality, affordable training so they have the skills for the jobs of the future, and employers have a skilled workforce," Mr Barilaro said.
