The NSW Liberal Party is going to water but it is not what you think.

NSW Attorney-General Brad Hazzard became the latest victim of the ice bucket challenge on Friday and challenged former premier Barry O'Farrell to be next.

"It's freezing, it's absolutely freezing and it's a cold Sydney day," Mr Hazzard said after having two large buckets of icy water dropped on his head by his staff.

"But it's for a good cause."

Mr Hazzard suffered a cut to his eyebrow from a chunk of ice.

The challenge aims to raise awareness about motor neurone disease.

The attorney-general also nominated Local Government Minister Paul Toole and Manly NRL coach Geoff Toovey to take part in the challenge.

Mr Hazzard joined the growing number of Australian politicians taking part in the activity.
