Golfers play on despite smoke, bushfire in south-eastern Sydney
Golfers have been unpertubed by plumes of smoke caused by hazard reduction burns near NSW Golf Club in south-eastern Sydney today.
Fire and Rescue NSW has confirmed a hazard reduction burn was carried out near Henry Head Lane at La Perouse this morning, before a second, unrelated fire broke out nearby this afternoon.
The bushfire has torn across 10ha in an inaccessible area where a previous fire broke out last week.
The Department of National Parks and Wildlife will work with firefighters to turn this fire into a hazard reduction burn also.
Firefighters could be seen working across the course today, but that didn’t deter golfers who continued their game.
A representative of the golf club said they were told about the burn, but had gone out to play regardless.
