Gold worth $20,000 found in NSW backyard

A NSW woman has made a shock discovery in the backyard of her home, finding $20,000 worth of gold bullion.

The woman discovered the wrapped-up package at her Kiama house last Tuesday before handing it in to a nearby police station two days later, police said.

Investigators have launched an appeal to find the rightful owner but say proof of ownership is required.
