German backpacker attacked in Sydney

A German backpacker has allegedly been sexually assaulted by a man she lived with in a Sydney apartment.

The 20-year-old was staying with a friend in a rented room in a Randwick apartment, where the 45-year-old owner also lived.

The man allegedly assaulted the woman when she was alone in the apartment with him on Tuesday.

He has been charged with three counts of sexual assault without consent and assault with an act of indecency.

Granted conditional bail, he is expected to face Waverley Local Court on March 17.
